What does it mean to give your life to Christ? Joyce Wheeler struggled with that question for a number of years until a minister’s wife helped her find the answer. As a result, her life changed completely, and she’s been enjoying the adventures of walking with God ever since. Bible study is an important part of everyday life for this mother of four and grandmother of ten. One of her greatest joys is to know that her children and their spouses share her enthusiasm and passion for the Lord. Second to that is the family’s interest in their ranch life: horses, cattle, and the diverse tasks from season to season that keeps them all very busy. A happy day for the family is gathering together to work the cattle: everyone on a horse, each one (from the youngest to the oldest) with a job, lots of camaraderie and cookies, and to make it perfect, a day without gale force winds! Favorite pets and dear friends add to the mix, as well as activities like daily walks, coffee with companions, church activities, community events, and as always, the ever-present bookwork associated with owning and operating a viable business. Especially valued is extended family time with elderly parents and relatives. Watching these loved ones work through the challenges associated with aging has given Joyce a new appreciation for their humor and dignity. Playing piano and guitar and singing with friends has also long been a part of the author’s life. God has given Joyce great adventures! Married for forty-six years, Joyce Wheeler and her husband, Justin, own and operate Wheeler Ranch, southwest of Philip, South Dakota. Mrs. Wheeler’s first work of fiction, My Lady, was published in 2009.
