Billy “Jack” McDaniel suffered burns over 95 percent of his body in a 2006 oil rig explosion. Almost everyone thought he was a dead man, but his wife A’leta insisted, “God is not going to let him die.”
For months he was in the hospital and in rehab. He had more than 120 surgeries. But he is confident God carried him through, with A’leta by his side.
Today Jack’s skin looks like a patchwork. He lost his ears. His face, lips, and nose have been rebuilt, and his hands, arms, chest, legs, and back have extensive skin grafts. He often has trouble staying cool since his new skin does not perspire.
Yet he knows he would not be alive if it were not for a God who answers prayer, a wife who never gave up, and people who stuck by him.
